This is the website of Eliana Miliani, a community manager in Caracas. We designed and built it from one sentence, and that sentence decides everything from the type to the colour of the ground.

Presence you notice, management you don't.

It is the line her site introduces her with. Her work has a part everybody sees and a part nobody sees, and the site says so with its structure before it says so in words.

Everything has its pair.

Every heading has two voices: a heavy grotesque and a light didone italic. The ribbon is pearl on one face and silver on the other, and it passes in front of some letters and behind others. The ground belongs to the whole page: the part everybody sees sits on light, the part nobody sees on graphite. As one hands over to the next, all of it changes at once, header and ribbon included, in a little over a second.

Colour only where the ink lies.

Every photograph is shown in grey. On a desktop the pointer leaves ink that curls, sinks and in about three seconds is gone. A picture takes its colour back only where that ink lies. The fluid is Pavel Dobryakov's open-source simulation, which we ported and then tuned against film of real ink in water.

Her trade fits inside her initials.

The mark is one unbroken line that reads C M, for community manager. A single bar set inside the C, without touching it, makes it E M. The site explains this once, while it loads: it writes the line, sets the bar and changes the words underneath.

The first message is already written.

The contact page writes the message for whoever arrives. A visitor picks what they need, types in their brand if they like, and a bubble drafts it as they go. Then they choose how it travels: WhatsApp, their own email or the site itself.
